Answer: Yes, the grille is rigid extra heavy duty to withstand constant walk-on situations. -

Does it sit into the floor at all, or just on top?
Answer: It does sit in the floor according to the opening in the floor and the top part you see is flushed with the surface of the floor -

What material is the vent made of?
Answer: I am not 100% certain but based on the weight I think it is some type of steel. -

What is the depth of this vent? The HVAC was updated, but there’s a hole in the floor we need to fill. We only have 3/4” of space
Answer: The depth of downward lip is 3/4". I had chance to measure it today. Sorry for the delay in responding. It seems you have just the amount of space to the floor below. -

Does this hold an air filter?
Answer: No. It is not meant to hold a filter. There is no provision on it to hold a filter. The air that passes through it goes to the furnace where the filter is always installed. Change that filter at the recommended intervals.
