Can this clear liquid be used as a top coat?
Answer: Friend: I respectfully offer that if you do not know what a solvent is then you should not try to paint anything. Do a little research on paints, solvents, coatings, etc. -

Will this hurt the finish on my outdoor bbq grill. It appears to be stainless stell or aluminum?
Answer: Raw unfinished metal will not be hurt from solvent. The coating itself may have issues with both heat from grill and possibly adhesion. -

Is the primary ingredient phosporic acid and it leaves a zinc phosphate coating?
Answer: Hi Dan, This is Solvent for clean up of equipment when using Rust Bullet Coatings. If you are looking for a pre-treatment that contains phosphoric acid, check out the Rust Bullet Metal Blast. Hope this helps. -
Question:
How do you prepare metal to paint on rust bullet rba53?
Answer: The surface must be completely dry and free of loose rust or paint, surface contaminates such as dirt, oily substances, salts, etc. Remove by lightly scraping, sanding or wire brushing. Use Rust Bullet Metal Blast for metal surface cleaning and conditioning prior to application when necessary. Do not use any other chemical for surface prep prior to application without consulting Rust Bullet Technical Support. Scuff up existing paint or coatings that cannot easily be removed with 100-150 grit sandpaper.

This clear liquid can be used for cleaning up raw unfinished metal but may have issues with the coating due to adhesion and heat from the grill. It is not recommended for use as a topcoat. Customers have had some confusion about the intended use of this product, but it seems to be effective for cleaning up equipment after using Rust Bullet Coatings. For surface preparation, Rust Bullet recommends using their Metal Blast product, and provides detailed instructions on how to properly prepare metal surfaces for painting with Rust Bullet RBA53.
