It is not recommended to be used in raised garden beds. The product can be installed at any time, and it will only terminate the worker termites that eat the bait, not the whole colony. The bait contains poison, and the cardboard inside kills termites only. This system is meant to be preventative, not curative, so it is essential to replace them annually. Customers who've used it for years say that these products work effectively, and only a few of them have kept the termites at bay. However, it is not clear if it is possible to buy refills alone as the original kit needs to be purchased.
