Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What kind of parrots is this food suitable for?
Answer: It is suitable for young, weaning, and breeding parrots or for parrots that require a heartier diet. -
Question:
Does it contain omega fatty acids?
Answer: Yes, it contains omega fatty acids from flaxseed, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. -
Question:
Is it easy for parrots to eat?
Answer: Yes, the sticks break cleanly and do not explode into fine powder like pellets do. The parrot is able to hold the rest of the morsel and eat the piece it broke off with ease. -
Question:
What's the difference between the Biscuits and the Sticks?
Answer: The difference is the shape. The biscuits are larger morsels for larger birds or birds who like to hold their food in their feet to eat. -
Question:
What is the shelf life on the high performance tropican food sticks?
Answer: The 20 pound bag is vacuum sealed and has a best used by date that is typically 9-12 months out. Once we open the bag, we take out 3-4 weeks worth and put it into a Rubbermaid 3 quart plastic container. The remaining we put into a larger Rubbermaid container. We use 20 pounds up in just under six months with feeding two parrots one meal of pellets per day. The last of the package smells as fresh as the first scoop. Hope this helps -
Question:
Are these soft?
Answer: No, they are not soft. -
Question:
Can this food be soaked with water for weaning birds?
Answer: Absolutely No. It solidifies in the gut. Exact has a baby bird formula for pet birds. For wild baby birds purée meal worms with a mush of cat food. Make it apple sauce consistency. -
Question:
What are the ingredients in this product?
Answer: I assume pellets and dry fruits, nuts. -
Question:
I have a 23 year old African Grey and I'm looking for a quality food to help him gain some weight. Does anyone have suggestions on which one to use?
Answer: Whole nuts and lots of fresh fruits and green vegetables. Feed what is found in nature. -
Question:
Are the pellets big enough for a grey to hold and eat? Otherwise mine will throw small pellets out of her bowl.
Answer: Yes, your grey could hold a pellet while eating it. -
Question:
Why do these smell like bubblegum? It’s kind of sickening.
Answer: Ya I know they smell like bubble gum and I don’t know why but my birds didn’t eat those for some reason
